Owner/Master InstructorNorma’s passion for Metal Smithing started back in 2018 when she decided to take an introduction to Metal Smithing class.
Needless to say, she was hooked after the first class. Norma continued to study under Jay Whaley who inspired her to dig deeper and perfect her craft by providing his extensive knowledge and techniques.
In 2022, when Jay decided to retire, he sold his studio to Norma who was ready and able to take on the challenge. Since then she spends over 40 hours each week working with students and jewelers to help them perfect their skills and bring their jewelry ideas into physical form.
On weekends she offers wedding ring workshops which you can find more about on the wedding ring workshops page.

Kayla’s love of jewelry making began at the age of 10, when her parents took her to a silver ring making class. After some convincing on her part, her parents allowed her to sign up for classes on her own and the rest is history.
After she found San Diego Jewelry Academy (formerly Whaley Studios), she was able to take her hobby and turn in into a full fledged business.
